I was just reading about the mysteries of tin and came across this tidbit: When tin is cooled below 13.2°C, it changes slowly from white to grey. This change is affected by impurities such as aluminium and zinc, and can be prevented by small additions of antimony or bismuth. The conversion was first noted as […]

Police said members of a hunting party opened fire on Christos Constantinou as he moved through the undergrowth dressed in an animal hide. Forget those loud neon jackets! I think all hunters should dress in animal hide during hunting season. It would definitely make the whole thing a heck of a lot more “sporting”!

I was searching Google images the other day with SafeSearch turned off (I know, I know). I was looking for a picture of a medical stretcher to include in an email to help illustrate a point I was making, when this curious image popped up in the results: When I first saw it, I couldn’t […]

Manufacturers have started adding wireless capabilities to many implantable medical devices, including pacemakers and cardioverter defibrillators. This allows doctors to access vital information and send commands to these devices quickly, but security researchers have raised concerns that it could also make them vulnerable to attack. This post is going to be all about handicapped parking spaces and their abuse by myself and others. Yay! So yeah, ok, I sometimes park in handicapped spaces… much to Jenny’s chagrin. However, I only do that when I know I’m going to be 30 seconds (dumping mail off at the post office drop box) […]

In the wake of the CRU hack and subsequent email release, I decided to leak one of my own emails that could very well reveal the future of digital storage. Amal, As you know, units of weight and measure are only as effective as their levels of accepted standardization. As such, I have been put […]

Over at BoingBoing, Cory Doctrow points out a BBC article detailing how a professional photographer was stopped by police from taking a photo of St Paul’s Cathedral in London, a building that’s probably being photographed by several cameras at any given time, 24 hours a day. What I really like about his post is the […]
